A wonderful opportunity to visit the BFI Southbank (known previously as the National Film Theatre) to see a classic film with a short introductory talk by film critic Kambole Campbell.

Deep Cover is a 1992 American crime film starring Laurence Fishburne as a cop who goes undercover to bring down a Los Angeles drug cartel. Jeff Goldblum and Charles Martin Smith also feature.

The film received positive reviews, being likened by some critics to a modern film noir. It is also notable for its theme song of the same title, composed by Dr. Dre and released as his debut solo single, which also features then-newcomer Snoop Doggy Dogg making his studio debut.

This film is free for the over-60s, and I have obtained 4 seats for the first three over 60's to RSVP. After that, over 60's can still go free, but you need to book by phone or in person only, (if you try to book online normal matinee price applies). The box office number is 020 7960 2102 any time Monday to Saturday from 12pm to 7pm, or Sundays from 12pm to 6pm and you are booking for Monday 16 November 2025 14:00. Specific seats are not assigned, so we should all be able to sit together, whether you use one of my tickets or get your own.

Under 60's are very welcome to join us also and can book for this film online at the normal price of £8.50.

After the film, we can end with an optional tea, drink, or snack at the cafe within the BFI. This will offer a great opportunity to relax and chat socially after what should be an interesting afternoon.

Although the film is free (or £8.50 depending on your age), in addition a £2.50 group maintenance fee applies and is non refundable. Please note that Meetup now adds a small amount to this also.

As always, you are participating at your own risk.

As the film is ticketed and I have a limited number of tickets, we would appreciate it if you changed your RSVP no more than 2 days before the event should you find you can no longer attend. No shows or cancellations on the day may result in you being removed from the group.
