This is a 9 AM - 6 PM type of session with a few breaks.

Open to all including students (freshman/Masters/PhD) as long as you are interested in coding.

Entry criteria - some basic Java and basic Linux skills with Macbooks or Ubuntu installed on your laptop.

At the end of the day, you will learn (all are hands-on)
--- Fundamentals of HDFS distributed file system
--- Fundamentals of Hadoop
--- Internals of what MapReduce is
--- How MapReduce works and the components of the system
--- Writing and running a basic MapReduce job (in Java)
--- Creating a cluster of laptops to run a job in true distributed mode
--- Process 1 billion rows of data using just laptop(s)
