Workshop -- Healthy Conversations Across Political Divides

Hosted By

Details
Goal: Have mindful, challenging, connected, heart-opening conversations with friends and family even when you disagree on political strategies.
Think of a person you have troubles conversing with or convincing in politics, maybe a conversation that ruins Thanksgiving. We gather a small group, and:
- Each share a conversation that isn't working, that isn't inspiring, and what we wish we could achieve.
- Overview what cognitive science is finding about the differences between liberals and conservatives. And explore how some communications techniques can apply.
- Then together explore ways to improve each of our troubled conversations. Some workshop materials will be provided, also each workshop group is free to take their conversation in new directions.
Location: If this gets big we might change to a nearby BARTable location, please notice the event emails.
Note: The goal is to create safe-spaces for thinking about psychology and emotions about politics, not diving into actual political arguments.
