How to do Sustainable Vegan Activism in 2014 and Beyond

People burn out on vegan activism for three main reasons: (1) they're pushing themselves to do things they're not comfortable doing; (2) they don't perceive themselves as being effective; and (3) they're not doing enough self-care. Learn how to avoid these traps, and to be even more powerful and effective in your activism and other endeavors in 2014, at our workshop with Hillary Rettig, author of The Lifelong Activist and The 7 Secrets of the Prolific. (And new Kalamazoo resident!) You'll learn what it takes to do effective activism, and how to properly measure your successes. You'll also learn techniques for staying motivated, for coping with (and avoiding) traumatic rejection, and crafting an empowered career for yourself. Be sure to bring your questions, and come prepared for a lively discussion!

Hillary Rettig is author of The Lifelong Activist: How to Change the World Without Losing Your Way (Lantern Books, 2006), and a productivity teacher and coach who helps activists, artists, businesspeople, and others get more productive. Her latest book is the best-selling The 7 Secrets of the Prolific: The Definitive Guide to Overcoming Procrastination, Perfectionism, and Writer's Block. She is also a former foster mom of four Sudanese refugees (“Lost Boys”), a living kidney donor, and a passionate animal rights activist who became vegan immediately after watching Peaceable Kingdom at the 2004 Animal Rights Conference.
