West End Thursday Happy Hour-English Bay in the sun cause it’s meant to be 21C!

I know a Vancouver weather forecast is only accurate for 36 hours at most but if my weather app says it’s going to be sunny and 21C, then I will take that as the gospel truth and unpack my summer clothes from storage.

Craft in English Bay has clam tables facing a fabulous view over the ocean. We’ve been there a few times and the $13 pepperoni pizza is the best value happy hour dish in Vancouver. It’s a perfect place to while away a warm (relatively) afternoon with a drink or two whilst chatting with friends old and new!

Although far from the Skytrain, number 5 buses go very regularly and the 23 also works. I will be at JJ Beans on Bidwell and Davie at 1:30 for any early arriveees.

Any and all are welcome as usual, whatever groups you may or may not belong to. Thursday Happy Hour is a very laid back laissez faire event so no drama or 3 strikes if you can’t make it on the day, just try and let me know if you can’t make it. Hope to see lots of you on Thursday!!

For those new to this event and/or this group let me copy and paste from previous event text to give you all the comfort you need if you are not too sure if you want to come along as the number of new members continues to grow rapidly.

We are a very friendly and welcoming bunch so no need to be nervous about coming along for the first time. A few pointers for potential newbies

If this is the first time you’ve seen this event or you’ve always wanted to come but were a little hesitant to join us, we are very genuinely a group of easy going people who will ensure any newcomers are more than welcome and made to feel comfortable and at home as soon as you sit down. Talk as much or as little as you want. This isn’t about drinking solidly for 3 hours of happy hour bargain prices, just a gathering of lovely people who love good company and $6 glasses of wine and/or beer. Attending an event for the first time can be like your first day at a new school, standing on the edge of the playground waiting for eye contact. We will welcome you with open arms to come and join us on the swings or in the sandbox as soon as we meet you.

There are hardly any rules tor the Happy Hour event. Join coffee or drinks only. Join both. Turn up whenever you want. Wear whatever you want. Turn up with whomever you want. Latecomers are always welcomed, never judged. No 7 strikes and you’re out. It’s a weekday late afternoon event and life happens, just let me know if you can’t make it so we don’t have to save a seat for you. Bring a guest. Be a guest only and message me directly if you are not yet a member of the group but would like to try first before you buy. I remember the tentative terror of attending my first event!!

The only rule is please steer clear of any and all strong political views.
