West End Thursday Happy Hour is Finally Back

After a few months hiatus due to FIFA, people being away on hols, your organiser moving and general lazy inertia, let's get back to Happy Hour fun at an easy and well tested venue, Black and Blue on Alberni. I have only booked for 8 as their policy is now to take a $25 credit card deposit per person, so 1), please only sign up if you are pretty sure you can attend, and 2), don't be shy and hesitant, join the waitlist. I will increase the attendee limit on Thursday morning to accommodate up to 8 more people.

Anyone recently new to the group, this is a pretty popular and very friendly event, please read the lengthy but hopefully helpful verbiage at the end of this to get an idea of what this Happy Hour group is all about.

For experienced Happy Hour veterans, things will be a little different going forward. There will be Friday Happy Hours for those that don't really work on Friday afternoons and/or appreciate that they don't have to get up early the next morning as it's not a school day. There will also be Happy Hours that start at 9 pm and hopefully once a month Saturday events as well. Suggestions and requests for venues, times and even themes

The below is always added to this events text and is intended for anyone new to this event and unsure whether to come and join us. Please read and feel comfortable and confident to come along!

We are a very friendly and welcoming bunch so no need to be nervous about coming along for the first time. A few pointers for potential newbies

If this is the first time you’ve seen this event or you’ve always wanted to come but were a little hesitant to join us, we are very genuinely a group of easy going people who will ensure any newcomers are more than welcome and made to feel comfortable and at home as soon as you sit down. Talk as much or as little as you want. This isn’t about drinking solidly for 3 hours of happy hour bargain prices, just a gathering of lovely people who love good company and $6 glasses of wine and/or beer. Attending an event for the first time can be like your first day at a new school, standing on the edge of the playground waiting for eye contact. We will welcome you with open arms to come and join us on the swings or in the sandbox as soon as we meet you.

There are hardly any rules tor the Happy Hour event. Join coffee or drinks only. Join both. Turn up whenever you want. Wear whatever you want. Turn up with whomever you want. Latecomers are always welcomed, never judged. No 7 strikes and you’re out. It’s a weekday late afternoon event and life happens, just let me know if you can’t make it so we don’t have to save a seat for you. Bring a guest. Be a guest only and message me directly if you are not yet a member of the group but would like to try first before you buy. I remember the tentative terror of attending my first event!!

The only rule is please steer clear of any and all strong political views.
