Power BI in Real Life Scenarios: Analyzing Azure Virtual Machines Pricing Information for HPC grids
As a Technical Specialist in the Microsoft GBB team for High Performance computing we are working with customers to design the most suitable architecture for large scale grid workloads. At the center of the grid are naturally compute resources which can handle the computational requirements of the underlying codes.
In a recent engagement I have leveraged Power BI (ETL, data modeling and visualizations) and created a simple dashboard which is helping customers I’m working with to select the best compute resource and region fulfilling the computational requirements.
While not utilizing the most sophisticated techniques and possibilities of Power BI, I will share the approach how different APIs could be combined and leveraged to provide quick and accurate insights. I will discuss also discuss the limitations and future improvements.

Power BI: Slowly Changing Dimensions Types 0,1 & 2
In Power BI we frequently "slice and dice" data using dimensions. For instance, the date dimension allows us to view data by "month", "quarter" or "year". However, dimensions are often fluid; they change over time. This includes products which are slightly refined or employees who move in and out of our business and across the organisational spectrum.
During this session we will use Power BI to explore how to handle these slowly changing dimensions, a key element of the Kimball methodology.

Good to know
We want this group to be a safe environment that encourages open discussion, exchange of ideas and problems you may face. Therefore, we kindly ask that no members will leverage the information for unsolicited acquisitions of new customers or projects. This group builds on trust, and without it we cannot learn from each other and excel on this topic.

Want to be a presenter?
We are always looking for new speaker. If you are interested and would like to show something to the Power BI Meetup Group please feel free to contact us!
