World Breastfeeding Week in Moscow!

Dear nursing, pregnant women, and all who are interested in breastfeeding!

The World Breastfeeding Week will be held from 1 to 7 of August. Let's celebrate it in Gorky Park as last year? The meeting will take place near the central fountain in 11:45. Please, try to get there by this time.

This year's World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) theme, 'BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT: CLOSE TO MOTHERS', highlights Peer Support of breastfeeding women. Even when mothers are able to get off to a good start, all too often in the weeks or months after delivery there is a sharp decline in breastfeeding rates. The period when mothers do not visit a healthcare facility is the time when a community support system for mothers is essential. Continued support to sustain breastfeeding can be provided in a variety of ways. Traditionally, support is provided by the family. As societies change, however, in particular with urbanization, support for mothers from a wider circle is needed, whether it is provided by trained health workers, lactation consultants, community leaders, or from friends who are also mothers, and/or from fathers/partners.

This year several topics of breastfeeding week are closely connected with support groups like ours - To draw attention to the importance of Peer Support in helping mothers to establish and sustain breastfeeding, and To call on governments and maternity facilities globally to actively implement the Ten Steps, in particular Step 10 (refer women to local BF support groups).

В августе начинается Всемирная Неделя Грудного Вскармливания. Она пройдет с 1 по 7 августа. Давайте отметим ее встречей кормящих мам на свежем воздухе, в парке!Приходите, как в прошлом году, в Парк Горького. Встречаемся у фонтана в 11 часов 45 минут. Просим вас, постарайтесь прийти именно к этому времени.

На встрече обсудим тему недели ГВ в этом году, обсудим ваши вопросы и сомнения, касающиеся кормления грудью. Обменяемся впечатлениями и мыслями о помощи мамам на равных (тема недели).
