FMSC offers volunteers a one-of-a-kind experience. You’ll hand-pack rice, soy, dried vegetables and a nutritionally complete blend of vitamins and minerals into bags which are then sealed, boxed, placed on pallets and shipped to our incredible partners working hard to reach the neediest children around the world. Through volunteering at FMSC, you’ll get the chance to impact hundreds of kids in just two hours per packing shift. You’ll experience what it’s like to make a tangible difference today. This event is mostly standing, so please wear comfortable, close-toed shoes. There are also a limited number of seated labeling jobs as well. If you are willing to come, we'll find something for you to do!! If anyone is interested, we can go to lunch afterwards at one of the nearby restaurants. This is a regular event and one that is a lot of fun! I hope you can join us!!
Treasures 4 Teachers is a member based resource and supply store serving the educators of Arizona. This means that anyone who works closely with students can have access to a wide selection of materials, resources and training that will enhance and expand the learning process. T4T is a donation-based operation. Therefore, we are able to provide low cost and free school supplies to our members in Tempe, Arizona. At this event you would be helping us sort, clean, and organize donations as well as working on special projects for teachers. Please keep in mind that children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult, and everyone must wear close-toed shoes. For more information, please visit the Treasures for Teachers website. https://www.treasures4teachers.org/
Sewing for Foster Kids with Arizonans for Children Arizonans for Children, Inc. | http://www.arizonansforchildren.org/ The Sewing Project to Help Foster Kids needs volunteers to sew pillowcases or duffel bags with drawstrings & straps for foster children. In Arizona, when Child Protective Services removes a child from a home, they unfortunately put the child's belongings in black trash bags. Since this project started independently in 2008, over 10,000 pillowcase bags have been sewn and delivered to foster youth. Fabric and cording is provided. If you have a sewing machine available, please bring it! Volunteers can visit the Fostering Love Website or the Craft and Fabric Links Website for a pillowcase pattern. For more information, volunteers can also visit the Sewing Project Website or Sew for Foster Kids Link The minimum age to volunteer is 12 years old. Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Volunteers who are 16 and 17 and wish to volunteer without a parent/guardian must bring a signed Youth Waiver to each project. By signing up for volunteer opportunities and not attending, you may be depriving someone else the chance to participate and the project of much-needed support. This is a repeating event - My family and I went in December and it was a lot of fun. Sewing experience helps, but is NOT required. You can put in drawstrings or cut fabric as well. They will show you exactly what to do! Please email me if you have any questions!!
