Job Hunt, IDP, ARE Study Support Group

I am proposing another Job hunt IDP ARE Support Group. Last month we had a few of us land an interview and even a job, working together helps reveal other strategies you have not thought of and encourages you to keep up your job hunt. Stop in and be encouraged.

5:00-7:30 Job hunters

7:30 – 8:30 ARE IDP

8:30- 9:00 whatever we need to cover

On the ARE front we need to start a separate group I visited the Chicago AIA Office and they have resources for us and they are actively looking for three to four moderators who can lock up after the study session is over. The office is located along the Chicago River off Wacker Drive and is very nice with nice folks there to help us and the latest ARE study materials. If you are interested in helping out as a moderator let me know.

On the Job hunt Front we can spend some more time to review resumes and portfolios, I also have The Map of Chicago firms to share have Google Earth on your computer before arriving at the event to get the locations address and other info on hundreds of Chicago area firms.

I think we could also all benefit from a Linked in review to ensure that we are getting the most out of this online resource, so bring a laptop and let’s take a tour of our linked in pages, I will try to have some very good examples bookmarked for you to look at.

Also On the job hunt front please bring multiple copies of your resumes, we may have more recruiters stopping by.

The portfolio review is coming but will probably happen after the new year I will keep you posted, in the meantime keep bringing in your portfolios and resumes for review.

Our grand tour of Coffee houses in Chicago continues with Filter 1373-75 N Milwaukee Ave between the Damen and Division Blue Line Stops. We will be in the front of the room. I am aware of the desire for a downtown location but most of the coffee shops in the loop are smallish and close early, we are looking for a place that can accommodate 15-20 and is open till 9:00 or latter if you know of one let me know.

I will be recruiting some professionals to help out if we have a good number of folks RSVP in advance.
