Join us on this beautiful and unique hike in a drier part of the state. We will begin our hike where the Deschutes River flows into the Columbia River. Traditional desert wildflower hike. Larry will be taking a group that wants to go faster hiking up to views of Eastern Oregon and the Cascades. Seth will be taking photos along the way. Not sure how my back will be either. It's a 600 ft. gain and 4.2 miles at least. Might go further if we feel inspired.
The trail takes starts at the Deschutes River State Park. No fees at this point. Restrooms at start and maybe an outhouse along the way.We will all head up the hillside and eventually cross a creek at Ferry Springs then back down the hill to the Deschutes River. Lots of whitewater this time of year. When we get to the road we have the option of walking toward rattlesnake gulch. Possible geocache hunt as well. Lots of birds and wildlife especially deer. Not a rushed hike so to enjoy the day. Cold non alcohol drinks provided after the hike. We will meet at the Troutdale Outlet Mall called Columbia River Outlets. Again like last time when you pull into the mall take a right past the charging station and look for us. Meet there at 9:30 am to carpool. Bring a lunch and drink to enjoy along the way. Great social hike to get to know other Christians who like to hike. Also if there are walks, hikes or climbs you wold like to do this year please pot them in comments.
