Good news Everyone!

We are back once more with Kubernetes introduction! Last time you've learned how to bootstrap your first Kubernetes cluster and now its time to put some workload on it. Let's meet again and share ideas and best practices how to develop/build/package and deploy your applications to your shiny new Kubernetes cluster.

Agenda:
*** Packaging with Helm - Tiziano Tarolla ***
Packaging and deploying micro-services can be tedious work.
In this talk I will cover:

  • how can Helm help you with packaging your service,
  • how to deploy a micro-service in Kubernetes using helm and
  • how to manage complexity using Chart definitions
After that I will show demo walking you through your first helm deployment and show how we roll Helm with our Helm Syndicate.

*** Developing native Kubernetes apps - David Becvarik ***
Developing cloud native apps is not an easy task. It means to design your app, encapsulate it inside the container by writing a good Dockerfile, adjusting it to be easily deployable on Kubernetes, package it via service broker or Helm. Now real fun begins by definig auto scaling policies, sharding and grouping workloads together. Do you see the analogy? Kubernetes become your operating system, but it lacks standard library. Imagine developing your app without libc on Linux/UNIX or on JVM where no java.* exists. Are you scared? Don't run away in fear, let's look at one experiment called Metaparticle which is trying to save you!
