What is the Fringe?

Capital Fringe Festival (http://www.capfringe.org/) is a Fringe Festival (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fringe_theatre) that has boogied down in Washington for the past six years. Bringing together audacious performing artists and intrepid audiences in a yearly creative and cutting-edge extravaganza, Capital Fringe, the nonprofit behind the festival, has reached out and achieved its goal of connecting audiences with artists in a very big way.

Why we're talking about it

Wikimania 2012 and Capital Fringe Festival are both taking place during July. The Festival reaches from July 7-July 24 and Wikimania 2012 (http://www.wikimania2012.org/) fromWikimania takes Manhattan (http://wikimania2012.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_Takes_Manhattan) July 6-July 9, to the Unconference on July 15. This leaves honored guests and erudite speakers ample opportunity to explore the richness of DC's Fringe scene, its stimulating and vibrant cultural landscape.

Wikimania Happy Hour at Capital Fringe

Wikimedia DC is happy to announce a Wikimania Happy Hour (https://www.facebook.com/events/190455894416348/) at the Capital Fringe Festival Baldacchino Gypsy Tent Bar (http://capfringe.org/baldacchino.html) on Friday, July 13th.

The bar opens at 5 PM and Wikimania Happy Hour specials last until 7 PM. Are you going to any other meetup (http://wikimania2012.wikimedia.org/wiki/Meetups) on Friday evening? You can still join us right after you're done, because there will be some awesome shows all night, and the tent doesn't close until 2 am! Mingle with other Wikimania attendees, DC residents, and artists from all over the US under the tent, and enjoy free music starting at 10pm.
