Following feedback from members, BSitC have now arranged for this event to be hosted in a larger, better-equipped venue in order that many more people may be catered for.
This meeting will now take place at The Verdict which is located at 153 Edward Street, BN2 OJB.

John, the owner of the cafe, in addition to letting us use his premises for the entire evening, has agreed to provide catering for us. He will then be providing food and drink.

Brighton Skeptics in the Café is thrilled to be able to host an evening with Michael "Marsh" Marshall.
To those active within the UK Sceptical Community and elsewhere, Mr. Marshall requires no introduction. He is one of the key public figures and celebrities within the British Sceptical Movement and it is therefore, an honour and a privilege to have him address us.
As well as being a sceptical activist, freelance journalist, public speaker, and podcaster, Mr. Marshall is a prolific author and blogger who writes extensively on both the subject and practice of pseudoscience and the proliferation of nonsense and irrationality within society. He has devoted his professional career to doing so. He has spent much of his career explaining to others the need for critical thinking and exposing the fraudulence at the heart of many of the practices associated with Mysticism, Vitalist Medicine, and New Age beliefs.
He is the vice-president of the Merseyside Skeptics Society. He is also the co-host of its official podcast Skeptics with a K, and the project director of the Good Thinking Society. He has occasionally written for The Times, and The Guardian newspapers and The New Statesman magazine.
It’s easy to think of pseudoscience existing in a glass case at a museum – something to be examined and critiqued from a safe distance, but not something to touch and to play with. Using examples taken from his own personal experiences in scepticism, during our evening with us, Marshall will demonstrate what happens when you begin to crack open the surface veneer of the pseudosciences that surround us – revealing the surprising, sometimes shocking and often comic adventures that lie beneath.
Brighton Skeptics in the Café was set up precisely to support such work and so it is with great pleasure that we welcome him to address us directly. Come along and use this unique opportunity to question him about his work and what we all might do to further the cause of the skeptic.

UPDATE AS OF 19/08/2016:
Having been in correspondence with Marsh directly via email, it has been agreed that he will devote his time with us to talking about the following subjects:
• Why it's important to investigate pseudoscientific claims at all.
• His work and that of the MSS at debunking psychics - especially the legal litigation of which he has become embroiled.
• The harm psychics do.
• His investigations and that of the MSS into homeopathy within Liverpool and Merseyside.
• His investigation of alternative medicine regulation in the UK.
and:
• The abuse of scientific illiteracy within advertising.
