Motivational Meeting: The Psychology of Normalcy and Emotional Sado-Masochism

Details
What does our society consider “normal” and what is “abnormal”? And how do these concepts affect our relationships?
In his book The Sane Society, Erich Fromm coined the term “the pathology of normalcy.” His brilliant analysis reveals that most people are to some degree sado-masochistic. This means that, when they are position of strength, they are emotionally cruel and domineering, and when they are in the position of weakness, they are self-denying and submissive.
Fromm’s thesis is based on a widespread psychological reality. This Meetup discussion, which will focus on understanding the fascinating process of emotional sado-masochism, can better enable us to reduce tension in ourselves and others and create an atmosphere of harmony and love.
