Abstract:

Learn how to re-use your existing SQL skills with Hive and HiveQL to access "unstructured" Hadoop data. We'll see how Hive ODBC opens up your existing tools including PowerPivot, Power View, SQL Server, Excel, and more to easily access multitudes of previously unused data without having to learn MapReduce and Java. We'll talk about when to use Hive vs. and/or with other products such as SQL Server, PDW, and Analysis Services.
