Self-Study Turkish Meeting

Our next Meetup will be in the Peninsula this time, in order to accommodate members who live further south. This venue is small and quieter; the proprietors are Turkish and very nice. There is an extensive wine cellar, and a great selection of meze.

Our lesson plan for the next 2 weeks will be to review and study Units 2 and 3 from the book, "Teach Yourself Turkish" (see my Introduction to the Meetup for more information about the book, how to get it, etc). The next two lessons will be much more intensive and involved - it is highly recommended to either purchase the book or to download the copied chapters from the "Files" section of this Meetup. To find the lessons, click on the "More" tab at the top of this page, you will see a drop-down menu, click on "Files", and you will see the pdf files there. Again, these notes are not for sale without the permission of the authors, and it is better to purchase the book with the audio CDs in order to get the pronunciation correct - only $21 altogether on Amazon.

Please practice with the quizzes at the end of the chapters - they are very helpful. We will integrate Units 2 and 3 into our conversations at this Meetup. Bringing a Turkish-English dictionary may be helpful, as well. For those who did not make it to the most-recent Meetup, please review and study the Introduction and Unit 1. As stated before, the goal is for all of us to be on a conversational level in Turkish, to have the vocabulary and grammar to hold a real conversation with fluent speakers. This book will bring us to the Intermediate/Advanced levels, if we adhere to the lesson plans.
