Reading 'The Golden House' together
Details
Two weeks ago we decided we would read Salman Rushdie's "The Golden House" together, the event is finally up! It's a novel about modern America (it takes place during the Obama administration) which follows a wealthy family's rise and downfall in New York. One red thread of the novel, according to a reviewer, is that Rushdie seems to be saying that there is no escaping destiny, because character creates destiny - the central character is the own architect of his downfall and it was always already destined to happen. We'll discuss whether we think this is true or not!
P.S. It's not a short book so start in advance if you want to join us.
