About Us: 55 plus Good Times
1. This Meetup Group is for mostly single people who are 55 and over with the majority being in the 60’s age bracket, but we are all young at heart and YES we all love ‘Good Times’.
2. Our group is purposely kept to a limited number of members as we believe in quality over quantity. Please be aware that we do not automatically accept every application nor do we have to provide a reason, if you are declined.
3. We organise and/or post events such as dinners, lunches, live music and musical events, theatre/shows, dance classes, movies, walks, quiz/trivia nights, fancy dress, festivals, winery visits, special events, day trips and more.
4. We are looking for active members who regularly attend and enjoy a variety of events, so if you belong to many other groups and you are not able to do this, we may not be the right Meetup Group for you. ***We believe that our group supports the development of friendships, and this can not be achieved from just attending 2-3 events a year.
***Please remember, this is NOT a dating site!
5. We do have Guidelines in place to keep our group running smoothly. Our aim is for all members to enjoy themselves in a safe, happy, comfortable and harassment free environment and most of all we want you to have fun!

1. Provide a, CLEAR CURRENT PROFILE PHOTO of yourself only!📷
❌No other people/animals/no sunglasses/no hats to be included in the photo.
This enables us to identify you quickly when you attend events.
👁🗨Our group is a Private Group and only members can see your Profile Picture.
2. Provide Given Name and Last Name or initial/s in your PROFILE NAME. If this is not done you will will automatically be declined. eg. Tony B or Sue Williams
3. Please be aware this is not a dating group, any inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated and you will be removed from the group with your membership fee (if paid) forfeited.
4. Please answer all questions fully, on your application, to ensure your application will be considered and therefore not declined.
5. Therefore a requirement is, that you will need to attend a HOSTED EVENT held within one month of joining.
***If you do not attend a Hosted Event within one month of joining, you will be removed from the group.
6. It is your responsibility to ensure that you make yourself known to the Event Host at the attendance of your FIRST Hosted Event and pay the $10 membership fee. This payment will not be taken until we have met you.
** The $10 membership is then renewed every 12 months.
7. The one month 'joining time frame' will allow you, the potential member to view our range of events and then ascertain if our group will be the “right fit” for you.
8. By participating in an activity/event with 55 Plus Group all members agree to release 55 Plus Group and the organiser, co-organisers and hosts from all actions, demands, claims for costs, charges, damages, liabilities and expenses, which you have now or in the future against the 55 Plus Group for death, injury to the body, mind, emotions or any loss or damage that you may sustain or incur as a result of your participation in any activity. Members also agree to indemnify and hold harmless the 55 Plus Group in relation to any claims as a result, or arising in relation to, whether directly or indirectly, your participation in any activity or any act of omission by any member in relation to the activity.
📢 IN RESPECT TO PARTICIPATION AND ATTENDANCE, THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES APPLY.
We are a very active, social group and as such we require all members to attend a Hosted Event at least once every 2 months. **If we find that you have not attended a Hosted Event within a 2-3 month period without a valid reason, then we will remove you from the group as being inactive and any membership fee paid will automatically be forfeited.
Periodically, we will review all members’ attendances at events to ascertain active and regular participation. If we believe that you are not meeting your event requirements, we will advise you of your removal and thus enable you to pursue other opportunities best suited to your needs. Any membership fee paid will automatically be forfeited.
🚩***If you find that you will be absent for 2 months or more (either medical, extended holiday or family/personal reasons) please notify the Organiser so that we don't inadvertently remove you from the group. This can be done via Direct Messages.
**It is up to each member to monitor the events they have RSVPd to, the Event Chats and their own Direct Messages to ascertain if there are any updates or changes to those events.
📢 ATTENDANCE OF GUESTS👥
Our volunteer Event Organisers/Hosts work very hard to ensure that our members enjoy a diverse range of events. **Most of our events are strictly for members only.
However, there are some events whereby an Event Host will allow, at their discretion, the opportunity for a member to bring a guest.
📌📅 RSVP's - "Are you going?" GUIDELINES
***Our Event Organisers/Hosts only need to know who IS going, not who isn't.
Please click the RSVP Button if you wish to attend the event.
Please click the Edit RSVP button to change your RSVP to NOT GOING.
If you are on a Waitlist for an event and then are unable to attend, please change your status to 'Not Going' by clicking on the Edit RSVP button, so that the next person on the Waitlist can move up on the list.
***Please ensure that prior to RSVP'ing - YES, you are in fact able to attend the event. Please check your calendar. If a person has RSVP'd but doesn't attend or does not advise the host prior to the event or pulls out a few hours before, this is regarded as a "NO SHOW".
**NO SHOWS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE!**
❌ One "No Show' will result in a message being sent to ascertain reason for absence.
❌❌Two 'No Shows' will result in a conversation with the Organiser, to ascertain intent to remain as a member and you may be removed from the group.
❌❌❌Three ‘No Shows’ and you will be removed from the group automatically.
