What we’re about
The purpose of this group is to bring together Black people over 50 who enjoy socializing, exploring new places and experiences. Us 50+ folks still like to get out there and enjoy life too! Events will be held locally within the Baltimore/Washington area. This group is for you if you have the desire to explore and do not want to do it alone.
Below are the group rules:
1) There is a zero No-Show policy. Please RSVP to events when you are sure you can participate, and if you must cancel, please do so in a timely manner and/or connect with the event host in a timely manner. Individuals who RSVP and do not attend or communicate with the event host, are subject to immediate removal from the group.
2) A current photo of members is required (and please do not add a photo from childhood or 20 to 30 years ago). This way, the group Organizer and members can put a face to a name and the group feels a bit more personal. Exceptions will be made (e.g., photo of flowers, paintings) for those that are already well known to the group Organizer personally.
3) Inactive members who do not participate in events or log onto the group website are subject to removal after three months of inactivity.

Zoo Description per website:
It’s not all elephants and donkeys in DC. At the National Zoo, visitors can find all sorts of animals that don’t subscribe to party lines. Lions, tigers and giraffes are just some of the 1,500-plus animals that call the 163-acre park home. The zoo’s habitats feature animals from 300 different species and about 25 percent of the zoo’s residents are endangered. All the animals at the National Zoo – which is also a global research center and conservation center – are cared for by world-class zoologists and veterinarians. The roster of animals again includes two giant pandas. Bao Li and Qing Bao, both three years old, have moved into their new digs at the Zoo. The Zoo is a large park with 18 distinct areas to explore.
Hours: 8am – 4pm daily
A free entry pass must be reserved for all visitors. Free passes become available approximately 30 days in advance.

Transportation:
Taking the metro into DC is a great option. I plan to drive to the Greenbelt metro station and take the Green line to the Gallery Place/Chinatown stop, and then the Red line to the Cleveland Park stop. The Zoo is a 10-minute walk from the metro stop. - Evening of All You Can Eat CrabsCaptain James Crabhouse, Baltimore, MD
