Museum visit for Juneteenth weekend
The National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC), colloquially known as the Blacksonian is a Smithsonian Institution museum located on the National Mall in Washinton, D.C. It opened its permanent home in 2016 with a ceremony led by President Barack Obama.
The NMAAHC is the world’s largest museum dedicated to Arican-American history and culture. The museum has more than 40,000 objects in its collection, although only about 3,500 items are on display. The 350,000-square-foot, 10-story building (five above and five below ground) and its exhibits have won critical praise.
Saturday Hours: 10am – 5:30pm
Free Timed Passes:
All visitors must have a timed-entry pass to enter the museum. Advance timed-entry passes are released 30 days in advance on a rolling basis.
I will add a note in the comments section when the passes become available and the selected time, so that those interested can go to the website and get their passes.

Transportation:
Taking the metro into DC is a great option. I plan to drive to the Greenbelt metro station and take the Green line to the L-Enfant Plaza stop, and then the Blue line to the Smithsonian stop. The museum is a 5 -10-minute walk from the metro stop.
