Be prepared for potential snow and ice on the trail. Please bring micro spikes just in case. I will try to scope the trail conditions out a few days prior to the hike and may need to cancel or change hikes if conditions are too muddy.

Join me on hiking up the Pino trail for 2.75 miles to a dedicated turnaround point. At approximately 11:30am we will start heading back down and gather up anyone maintaining a slower pace. Please see the very bottom of the description for a link to an AllTrails hike similar but shorter than the one we will be doing.

Distance: 5.5 miles
Elevation gain: 1100 feet

⚠ The starting location is marked on the map. It is south of the official trailhead and has a wooden gate where the road turns from east to north. This is where we will meet.

⚠ Parking Fee: $2.00 via electronic kiosk at the trailhead. Sandia Mountain Parking Pass and National Park Passes are not valid in Elena Gallegos Park. You must park first and then pay at the kiosk near the starting area, and then put the kiosk ticket on your dashboard.

Cardio hikes are designed for all paces. The goal is to have the opportunity to improve fitness and prepare for longer day hikes. You will likely find hikers with a similar pace, but may also find yourself hiking alone, particularly if you have not been hiking recently. Being familiar with the trail in advance is strongly encouraged. Please contact me directly or post in the comments if you have questions.

With your RSVP you made a commitment: You signed up with the intent to go because you value your commitment to yourself and others. You are prepared to hike in changing conditions. You can address your needs around food, water, clothing, and any health needs that are unique to you. You are capable of returning to the starting point and going on about your life unassisted, but would rather participate in our community.
