Who Should Attend: Only active hikers who are physically capable of hiking 9.5 miles in rocky terrain and dirt should plan on attending. Elevation Gain: Approx. 3,600ft+. Note: Attendance is limited to six hikers because of the length and difficulty. Everyone will start out on the waitlist. If I haven't hike with you before, I will ask you some questions about your capabilities.

Hike Description: We will start at the Original La Luz and then Chimney Canyon to hike up the Crest. The Old La Luz Trail is much, much steeper than the well-known La Luz trail. Chimney Canyon includes near vertical rock chutes. It is a challenging hike with approximately 3,600ft+ of elevation gain over six miles. Our return hike will involve taking the Old La Luz route back.

⚠ The starting location is the Drinking Fountain Trail located off of FR 333. A map to this location can be found here: https://www.trailforks.com/trails/drinking-fountain/ and can also be seen here: https://www.trailforks.com/poi/120202/ There are two small parking lots on the east side of FR 333 and a third larger parking lot on the west side of FR 333 at this location. We will meet at the east parking lots.

Unplugged Hike: You are more than welcome to bring your cell phone on the hike, but it just needs to be on silent.

Dogs: Not allowed this time.
