Domingo Baca – Old La Luz
Details
The plan for this hike is to ascend to the top of the Domingo Baca trail where it intersects the La Luz-Tramway cutoff trail. From there, we will hike to the base of the La Luz trail via the Old La Luz trail — (optional side trip to the top of the Sandia Peak Tram depending on how the group feels).
This is a slightly different hike than most of our hikes in that not all of the trails on this route are well groomed or clearly marked. The upper sections of the Domingo Baca trail, past the TWA crash site, are quite steep with loose rock and are not always well delineated. Similarly, some of the upper sections of the Old La Luz trail are notably steep and technical. Trekking poles are recommended.

Note: Because this is a challenging hike, all reservations to this hike will be initially waitlisted. Feel free to message me after RSVPing so that I can move you to the "going" list. Thanks!
Note: This hike also has different start and finish locations. We can coordinate dropping off cars to shuttle back to starting point or share a Lyft/Uber ride.
