THINK ACT CHANGE: The World Water Crisis, How Can We Solve It?

The water crisis is a human rights problem. In conjunction with UN World Water Day 2014, we will be screening the award winning documentary BLUE GOLD and discussing the world water crisis with a panel of guest speakers.

ABOUT THE WATER CRISIS

The complexity of water crisis is one nobody talks enough about. On 28 July 2010, through Resolution 64/292 (http://www.un.org/es/comun/docs/?symbol=A/RES/64/292&lang=E), the United Nations General Assembly explicitly recognized the human right to water and sanitation and acknowledged that clean drinking water and sanitation are essential to the realisation of all human rights.

Yet there are 780 million people in the world that lack access to clean water, we are driving an unsustainable waste of our fresh water supply with the population growth with polluting, diverting, pumping being controlled by the corporate giants, wall street investors, corrupt governments and military control using water for economic and political gain.

EDMUND DE VEAUX

Edmund is the Executive Vice President/Member of Burton Trent, a consultancy overseeing public relations for crisis management. Edmund is a commissioned officer in the United States Army and has a wealth of experience in the national private, public and not-for-profit sector. He started his career in New Jersey State government overseeing capital budgets and related projects in environment, military, veteran affairs, transportation and municipal government.

Edmund has also worked for the country’s largest multinational water-related service and environmental companies and the development of the nation’s largest public-private partnerships for water and wastewater services. As well as serving on numerous not-for-profit boards, including: The Land Conservancy of New Jersey, The Great Swamp Watershed Association and the Sustainable Water Infrastructure Coalition (chair).

Julien was born in Paris 34 years ago with family ties in the French Alps Julien crossed the Atlantic in 2001 to study his MBA in NYC and settle down for his career.

And recently after a personal trip in Nepal to follow his love for adventure and mountains Julien discovered in front of his eyes the dire sides of the water crisis with lack of potable water and decided to embark on a mission to save 1,000 lives with his team to bring safe drinking water.
