Wednesday Night MOON/NO MOON Sabino Tram Road Walk #2
Details
We'll meet at the Pavillion at least 5 minutes early for the out and back 7.68 miles round-trip walk-up Sabino Canyon Tram Road. There is an altitude gain of about 740 feet, about half in the last mile. Be able to walk at least 2.5 miles per hour on a paved road. Depending on group size, we will break up into smaller groups with a common pace.
To fully appreciate the canyon in darkness, please bring a headlight, preferably with a red light and worn around your neck pointing down rather than in your co-hiker’s face. A cell phone for lighting is inadequate. A jacket, water & snacks and whatever necessary for your personal comfort and safety should also be brought along. There are several restroom facilities along the road.
Another local hiking group has had a recurring Friday evening event for many years with 2 group levels of hikers; a fast and slower social group. This event will be mid speed with the round trip to take up to 3 hours, depending on group abilities and cohesiveness. Conversation is encouraged as opposed to silence during this event.
.
I hope to make Wednesday evening a regular hike regardless of moonlight.
