SUNDAY BRUNCH AT FOURNOS, FOURWAYS CROSSING

Needs a location

Many of us will be very familiar with the fresh bread and otherworldly delish baked products of this franchise that goes WAY back in SA history!

Time for a kuier here again to enjoy their delectable super-fresh food offerings. And to be reminded of our student days when Fournos offered late-night sustenance to tired and often overly alcohol-imbibed students......

See you there.

AS ALWAYS….

PLEASE NOTE: A CASH EVENT FEE OF R 10.00 WILL APPLY (Thank you!)
In this way active members who attend events are able to contribute towards the annual group subscription fee that is paid to the MeetUp Organisation by the Organiser. Kindly pay your event host upon arrival - much appreciated!

LUNCH AT THE BRAND NEW LUGZ INDIAN CUISINE ON WITKOPPEN – WITH AJAY PLAYING LIVE

Those who have visited their outlet in Randburg with us not too long ago will know that this is Durban having arrived in Johannesburg. Whilst there is an extensive menu for all tastes, the Indian cuisine (including the famous bunny chow!) is the main attraction here!

Let’s check out their very attractive new restaurant on Witkoppen – that looks a tad like a Roman palace of sorts – and enjoy Ajay’s mood-lifting music on this Sunday afternoon.

CREATING BEAUTIFUL UNIQUE POTTERY AT THE CLAY CAFE, LONEHILL

Needs a location

Plenty requests from members for this activity, so here we go!

Come along and create your unique, personalised and functional crockery that is EVERYTHING-proof : oven, dishwasher and microwave (although I’m not sure re the metallic glazes here…). We choose from a vast array of unfired bisque pottery items to paint and decorate, using the studio’s wide selection of colourful paints and tools. We nibble on wholesome food and sip drinks while the juices flow and creativity swells. And all the time friendly staff are around to assist and add ideas.

Painted items are fired, and then we are contacted after about 4 weeks to go and pick up our masterpieces.

The items are individually priced from R 90.00 - R[masked]. This covers the use of paints and tools. We need to pay on the day, but must secure a written CONFIRMED booking upfront, which I will do. Get your RSVP in pronto as we will only allow for 14 people!

The afternoon session starts at 13:00, but let's gather from 12:30...

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A CASHLESS VENUE!

LUNCH & AIR SHOW AT RAND AIRPORT

Needs a location

The Air Shows at Rand Airport are always spectacular and breathtaking. Expert aviators wow the audience as they show off their skills in the air.

On this day we can expect South Africa’s flying aces - such as Scully Levine, Arnie Meneghelli and Andre Coetzee - to descend on the Rand Airport with many tricks, stunts and aerobatic displays. The Air Show will feature old warbirds, helicopters, jet displays, mass bike rides and a whole lot more. There will be plenty to do and see for young and old, including a flea market, food stalls, helicopter rides and a kiddies entertainment area.

Gates open at 07:00 already, for those members who want to get there earlier, and there is a full programme of aircraft antics until 16:00. The full programme is available here:

https://randairshow2022.co.za/learn-more/our-schedule/

Regarding the tickets, we have 2 options:

NB: ON THIS DAY ONE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET INTO THE HARVARD CAFE WITHOUT A PRE-PAID TICKET!

1. Harvard Restaurant is taking table bookings for a buffet breakfast and lunch (= 2 meals throughout the day), where one keeps one's table for the whole day and is free to wander around amongst the vendors and other market items. This option sounds quite good, given that the place will be swarming with people and one would need to schlepp your chair and stuff all around the place and hope for a good space to park it. (Because of the brekkie AND lunch included, we may need to get there earlier, as the Organisers recommend...!)

2. Option 2 is one buys one's normal Air Show ticket for R 70.00 and then does one's own thing, as I described in Option 1 above.

Those keen on Option 2 can go ahead and buy their tickets via Quicket.

Those keen on Option 1 must please let me know PRONTO (BY MONDAY, 15 AUGUST) so that I can book that table before they're all gone. You can then buy your ticket via Quicket and send me your ticket number - so that I can book a seat for you at our table in the restaurant.

Tickets:
* Air Show outside - R 70.00
* Air Show viewed from Harvard Cafe, with buffet brekkie, coffee & lunch at our own table - R[masked]
