What we’re about

The 50s+ Fun Folks Meetup Group is for people over the age of 50 who want to stay fit, have fun, and make friends in Northern Colorado.  We hike, we bike, we paddle, we camp, we enjoy live music and dancing, we like to play games, we enjoy arts, science, and culture, and we like to eat well.

There are three guiding principles of this group:
1.      We are here to have fun.
2.      We are here to foster friendships
3.      We expect courtesy, kindness, and respect for fellow members and staff of the venues who host our events.  Remember, when we are out as a group, how we act individually reflects upon the group as a whole. 

In addition, out of common respect for event organizers, we require that if you have an RSVP for an event and if you cannot attend, you should contact the event organizer as soon as possible so that your space can be allocated to someone else on the waitlist. Even if it is the same day! You can do this by editing your RSVP for the event and with a DM on Meetup or posting a message on the event itself.

If you are not well, please don’t come to an event for your well-being and others.  Please do notify the event organizer that you won’t be attending.  We all really appreciate this. 

If you are waitlisted for an event and another member cancels, you may be moved onto the “going” list. If you can no longer attend, please cancel your RSVP. This often happens within 24-48 hours of an event. Paying attention to your Meetup emails and removing yourself quickly if you cannot attend, allows other waitlisted members to attend the event.

Please do not RSVP to every event you might want to attend just to save yourself a spot.

“No-shows”, an RSVP for an event and then not showing up to the event, along without notifying the organizer of the event, is very disrespectful to the person who has gone to the effort of organizing the event and other members who may be on the waitlist. We take this seriously!  After three “No-shows”, you will be removed from our membership.

Our leadership team has been scheduling a lot of different types of events in the hope that we can provide fun activities and opportunities to meet new people, enjoy our friends and make new friends in the process.  If you have an idea for an activity or event that you think would be fun for the group, please contact an organizer; either Eric Uken, Jerry Schmierer or an event organizer with your suggestion.  We are always looking for activities and events that the group can enjoy.

Ongoing Costs of doing business as a Meetup Group:
Currently, the annual cost of our group to Meetup.com is $360 per year, paid directly by the group organizers.  An annual membership donation of $10 per year per member is suggested to defray these costs.  Donations can be made via Zelle, Venmo, or cash to organizer Jerry Schmierer.  All funds collected and distributed will be reviewed by the Steering Committee.
