TOUR: Threatt Filling Station

Details
Please bring a $10/per person DONATION for this tour. This is a very unique and special opportunity that, if you enjoy Oklahoma History, we hope you'll experience with us. Stay tuned for a lunch event following.
We met Mr. Edward Threatt following the film on The Green Book at the Oklahoma History Museum. The Threat Filling Station is on Route 66 near Luther, OK. His family acquired 160 acres and built this African-American owned service station in 1915. It is representative of the type of businesses listed in THE GREEN BOOK, which was a publication to help African-Americans travel safely in the USA. This is a YouTube video about the filling station.
Mr. Threatt has graciously offered to give our group a tour, and tell us about the history of his family and the property. I'm sure you will find his family history to be interesting and educational.
Your donation will be presented as a contribution to his restoration project. If you're interested in learning more about The Green Book, you may want to read OVERGROUND RAILROAD. A link to it in Amazon is provided here, but it is available thru the Metropolitan Library
