One of our most dear members, Sunny, will be performing!

THE SOUND OF SCHOLAR CANTORUM

MEETING TIME:
You can meet us at 4:30 pm at the entrance if the Basilica OR earlier if you want to enjoy a late lunch/early dinner with us (more info will be added later).

ABOUT SCHOLAR CANTORUM
There is no question that Handel’s Messiah is the most popular western choral piece ever written. It has been performed every year in various ways since its debut in Dublin in 1742. There have been formal performances, countless Messiah Sings, and now you can appreciate it a whole new way – in Spanish!
Schola will present the Messiah (the Advent and Christmas part) in a new Spanish translation – we believe we will present the West Coast premiere of El Mesías. The tunes are all the same, but the language shift will challenge your sense of familiarity. You truly will hear it as you’ve never heard it before.
We will perform this new interpretation with a full orchestra, fabulous soloists, and we’ll invite you into an astounding space – the Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph in San Jose. A space as grand as Handel’s El Mesías.
