Details
The International Space Station will be flying over Thousand Oaks and be visible the evening of July 9th.
The ISS will crest the horizon at 8:40 pm and be visisible for 7 min with a max height of 87° above the horizon.
It will apear at 10° above the SW horizon and disappear at 10° above the NE horizon. It will be traveling 28,100 kph (17,500 mph) at an average altitude of 400 km (250 miles).
The ISS is approximately the size of a football field and will appear as an extremely bright star as it traverses the dusk sky. The shape of the ISS can be made out with strong binoculars or telescope.
Begin gathering before 8:00 pm at the Ranch Conejo Trail Head parking lot.
