The Gondoliers is a light-hearted comic opera by W. S. Gilbert (librettist) and Arthur Sullivan (composer), first performed in 1889.
The story follows two cheerful Venetian gondoliers, Marco Palmieri and Giuseppe Palmieri, who unexpectedly learn that one of them is secretly the rightful king of the distant kingdom of Barataria. The problem is that no one knows which brother is the real king because they were switched as babies.
