Kailua Taiji - Tai Chi and Chi Gung Circle
Details
Taiji is a spiritual, health, and, at times, a gently powerful martial arts practice. Taiji was born centuries ago in Taoist monasteries and within several wise families in the provinces of old China.
My intent in forming this group is to learn and practice with you two styles of “Taiji” (the accurate Chinese pronunciation of “Tai Chi”). Although I will take the role of “teacher” my intention is to join together with a group of folks who want to learn and practice this Taoist art. We will also engage in an energetic health practice called “Chi Gung.” Both of these arts provide you ways to cultivate a life of physical and psychological balance. They also show us how to experience and move the “Chi” – the natural energy forces that fill and surround everything in the universe (it’s like “The Force” in Star Wars).
We will learn two styles of Taiji: One derives from the “Taiji dancing” style originated by my 86-year-old teacher Sifu (Master) Chungliang Al Huang. This is primarily a Chi-focused style that is not intended for fighting or self-defense. The second style is called “Yang Taiji Chuan” – the long form of martial arts Taiji, as formulated by Sifu Doc Fai Wong.
