I propose we take another dive into that wild and wacky world of Hegelian thought, this time with a review and discussion of his Philosophy of History.

We have already dipped our toes into Hegel, with our review of the first portion of his "Phenomenology of Spirit". I recall from our discussion that it wasn't really clear to all whether or not it was really about History, or was History just being used as a metaphor.

So, it's pretty clear that his "Philosophy of History" is about History. That probably won't surprise anyone. But, here's the thing. I've listened to the first portion, and shockingly, so far it is quite lucid, downright understandable.

(I know, "Hegel, clearly written prose? How is this possible?")

I'm guessing the editor, Eduard Gans, did his homework and actually cleaned up Georg's lecture notes a bit.

So join us for our second attempt at understanding the philosophy of Hegel. Don't feel you have to finish the whole work, because the Introduction pretty much gives the whole plot away. And, what the heck, we'll have a good time arguing about it either way.
