Urban Hiking: A Walk In The Parks. Van Cortlandt & Tibbetts Brook

Details
Meet at the park corner entrance @ Broadway & 240th. Just inside the sign, at the park benches, here - http://goo.gl/maps/mXgW1
Look for the good looking guy in a yellow bandanna!
We'll do an urban exploration walk thru both parks. Distance will be about 7-8 miles.
Here's a route map, and you can export this to a GPS if you'd like - http://www.mapmyhike.com/routes/view/301482257
It's an easy walk over paved, gravel and dirt trails. Fairly flat and good for all ages. Trails may be muddy and slick from snow.
NOTE: On the return route we will be walking on sidewalks for about a mile and will need to cross a couple of streets. Be aware of traffic, as both street crossings are near blind spots for drivers. This will be the only hazard we should deal with.
Wear comfortable shoes. Bring water and snacks. This might be an easy walk, but you'll still need hydration and food for energy.
There are NO restroom facilities along our route and no way to jump off the trail to get to one.
Bring your camera.
Well behaved dogs are welcome on the trail.
If you've never walked these parks, you'll be surprised.
Afterwards, we have 5pm Superbowl reservations in midtown. Everyone is invited to join us!
Getting there: Take the 1-Train to the last stop @ 242nd St. on Broadway. It stops right at the park. Then just walk down to the corner entrance @ 240th.
Thanks & Happy Hiking!
