' Powerful.'   ' Last night was beautiful - I felt at ease - the music was mesmorising '
' Anyone can do the rhythms. They are in us and are part of our essential makeup: they just need to be evoked, to find expression in our own unique beings’ Gabrielle Roth

‘If you don't dance your dance, who will? ‘Gabrielle Roth
Come and dance for fun, wellbeing, interaction, to let go, free your mind, explore your creativity, self-awareness, acceptance, personal growth or healing. 5Rhythms is a simple and flexible practice which can be experienced by anyone regardless of culture, gender, age, shape, experience, fitness and physical limitations. There are no steps or routines so dancers can move at their own pace, within their own capacity without judgment from the other dancers.
‘You are how you move’ Gabrielle Roth

WHAT IS THE 5RHYTHMS PRACTICE?
A continuous cycle through the rhythms of Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical & Stillness. Each rhythm is an opening to explore self-expression and movement and connect with body, heart, mind, soul and spirit. The music will guide you through the 5Rhythms which will help you to connect, listen to and allow your body to move freely, in its unique rhythm at its own pace. You can move individually or with others if and when you want to.
‘We dance...to shed the past, forget the future and fall into the moment feet first..’ Gabrielle Roth

ABOUT LUCY HOWGEGO, EMBODY YOUR BEAT, 5RHYTHMS WAVES CLASSES IN MILTON KEYNES

I believe that the 5Rhythms philosophy and practice can provide empowering opportunities for individuals to heal, grow, transform and/or enjoy the movement and connection, empty, replenish and move forwards in new directions.

My personal mission is to nurture a safe, peaceful and creative world full of possibilities. I feel most alive and connected to my creative, gentle, vulnerable, spontaneous, playful, intuitive, open-hearted self when I am dancing.  I am in awe of the body's ability to hold memories and how the 5Rhythms practice facilitates remembering, feeling, healing, transformation and celebration if you trust and follow the maps.
The 5Rhythms practice is an essential part of my personal growth, healing and spiritual journey. My vision as a teacher-in-training and spaceholder is to share the knowledge and gifts i have received from this practice and support its growth into new communities, diversity and disability. Teaching and spaceholding fill me with joy, satisfaction, pride, awareness, gratitude, humbleness and a love of supporting and empowering others to shine.

I introduced the 5Rhythms practice to Milton Keynes in 2018 and I hold 5Rhythms waves classes on Friday evenings and also produce workshops. My intention is to serve and support the growth of a multi-racial and socio-economically diverse 5Rhythms community in Milton Keynes. I create a new theme each week to invite a different perspective on the 5Rhythms and curate the music to reflect this and guide the group. One of the things I love about the 5Rhythms is the diversity that we bring and I look foward to sharing this illuminating, transformational journey with you. warmest Lucy

IF YOU DON'T DO YOUR DANCE, WHO WILL ?

Online, 5Rhythms Dance, Creativity & Fun for Families, Sundays monthly 11.30am

Link visible for attendees

A nourishing and creating a connective space for families to explore dance, play, art, music & storytelling together.

Every child is born with an imagination which parents can nurture by sharing in and becoming part of the creative thoughts and expression which helps their children transform and develop into creative thinkers and problem solvers who might even one day change the world.

The power of a child’s imagination can change a twig into a magic wand, a cardboard tube into a telescope, a bubble bath into a deadly swamp, beds become boats with sheets as sails on a wild sea of pillows, a tea towel becomes a cape of invincibility flying out behind a child who becomes a superhero, a clothes horse and blankets transform into a castle where a princess cowers from a dragon that silly old parents might believe is a teddy bear.

We will dance, play, explore and be creative with our IMAGINATION. If the kids want to they are invited to dress up as an imaginary or real character, and adults too, and we can have some fun guessing who everyone is and dancing with all the characters that show up. Imagination opens the door to possibilities; it is fun and develops social, emotional, creative, physical, lingual, and problem-solving skills in children.

In a 2013 study on “Pretend and Physical Play”, psychologists Eric Lindsay and Malinda Colwell observed that children who engage in imaginative play express more emotional engagement, thoughtfulness and understanding, and less negative emotional expression such as selfishness and anger, and score higher on tests of emotional regulation and understanding.

This is an opportunity for families to explore new ways of connecting, communicating and being with each other, their relatives and other families so they do not get stuck in overwhelm, boredom, withdrawal, isolation and feel disconnected from each other. Every child is amazing in their own unique way and actively involving the family in supporting and developing their creativity and imagination is inclusive and empowering for everyone. The emphasis is on discovery, learning, empowerment and enjoyment. Parents play a vital role in their children’s development and through movement, play, art, music and storytelling we will be creative together in a mutually respectful and supportive way to support the development of enquiry, imagination, language and new skills.
