Come dance with Bodhi! At Sunday Sweat 5 Rhythms Dance Class Meetup
Kate will be in Belarus teaching a workshop on the ancestors. Please note that the £12.50 is an AVERAGE PRICE. Meetup does not allow us to put the 3 different prices up which are based on a sliding scale (see below). Sunday Sweat is a 5 rhythms dance class - this means as well as listening to a wide range of GREAT music carefully selected to take you through 'the wave' of the 5 rhythms, you are encouraged to use the time to reconnect with yourself firstly on a physical level. So go at your own pace and move how YOU want to. Remember to bring water and loose comfortable clothing to move in. Shoes are not allowed in the dance space unless they are special non-marking dance shoes. We have 3 prices on a sliding scale (hence the 'average' sliding scale fee of £12.50) £10 - concessions/benefits/very low income £13 - medium income £15 - high income (Its an honour system so we don't need proof of income) See you there!!

What we're about

This class is about freeing up your dance, exercising all of your body, providing an outlet to express yourself, relax yourself and help you to feel more alive. It requires absolutely no ability, grace, skill, fitness level or cool moves and we have dancers of all ages. It's a great way to shake off your day, week or weekend - like a clean out for the coming week.

Classes start very gently, with time for stretching and getting the body moving at your own pace. The music will take you gradually into a kind of wave of activity - from the first rhythm, 'flowing', through the more percussive 'staccato', getting faster until we hit 'chaos', then dropping into the lighter 'lyrical' music before finally sinking into the meditative sounds of 'stillness'. We often go through two waves of the 5 rhythms during the class. Each wave can be quite cathartic, getting out pent up feelings and energy and leaving you relaxed and refreshed.

There's instruction and exercises but no specific steps, you don't even have to follow the instructions if they don't feel helpful, what's most important to come along and be yourself.
