Blue Ocean Society will have supply stations set up at the N. Hampton Beach parking lot, the parking lot in Hampton in front of the Ashworth, and in Seabrook at the parking lot next to the fisherman’s co-op.

Wastewater Treatment Facility Debris Found on Beach in Seabrook, NH
Public Encouraged to Use Protective Gloves When In Contact with White Disks

Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services is notifying the public of concerns relating to round white plastic disks washing up on the beach at Seabrook, New Hampshire. These disks came from a wastewater treatment facility located in central New Hampshire that discharges to the Merrimack River. The treatment facility experienced a malfunction during a recent heavy rain event which caused the plastic disks to be released into the Merrimack River. It is possible these disks may be found in other coastal areas as well as along the banks of the Merrimack River. An effort to clean up these disks is underway. DES advises the public not to handle these disks without protective plastic gloves because they may contain bacteria from the wastewater treatment process. The disks may be collected into plastic bags and disposed in a landfill as solid waste.

The disks are described as small white circular shaped mesh type disks that are approximately two inches in diameter.
