Hi WebGLers,

As always, we're (here in Autodesk) thrilled to host another meetup on THREE.js. In this meetup we'll hear about working with our own geometries.

Schedule:

18:00 - 18:20 - Beers and Pizza

18:20 - 19:10 - Dynamic mesh animation with THREE.js (Matan Zohar - Autodesk)

19:10 - 19:50 - Breathing life into Three.JS (Opher Vishnia)

19:50 - 20:00 - Q&A

Speakers:

Matan Zohar - Matan Zohar is a Sr. Software Engineer who has been with the Autodesk R&D center in Tel Aviv for over a year. He primarily focuses on creating innovative 3D design and manufacturing tools with WebGL. As a graduate of Computer Science and Graphic Design from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Matan combines his programming skills with a strong design background to deliver sophisticated solutions for artists. Before joining Autodesk, Matan was a Disney Imagineer working with a team that develops Virtual Reality and 3D tools for Disney Parks and Resorts. He focused main on creating and implementing new guest facing VR experiences, as well as on developing internal tools for Disney designers and planners.

Abstract:

Intro to making your own geometry in THREE.js. Once you have your base geometry he'll cover ways to parametrically manipulate the mesh and create animation of the geometry over time.

Opher Vishnia - Opher is a multidisciplinary creator, invested in many different and often unrelated fields at the same time: computer science, art, music, design, math, game development and more. For the past three years Opher has been working at Interlude as lead creative developer, and the go-to authority on client side web technologies. His day-to-day involves working with both creative teams (design, art, film) as well as development teams to push the envelope of what interactive video can be in the near future.

Abstract:

What if you could create a world? How would it look like? What creatures would find place in it? And what would happen when the creatures from your world meet those of another world? “Telluric” is my thesis project created in the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design which experiments and tests those exact questions. In this multiplayer game/experience users witness firsthand phenomena such as mutation, death, natural selection and evolution. In this talk I will present the project, created entirely in ThreeJS along with a technical breakdown of its different components. I will touch on topics such as custom shaders, animation, modularity and multiplayer communication.

See you there!
