PowerAI - Deep Learning in Cybersecurity and the Insurance Industry
Details
Our next PowerAI South West Meetup!
Agenda:
- AI for Cybersecurity: Detecting Malware with Recurrent Networks,
Matilda Rode, Cardiff University
Deep-learning models can detect malware using both static and dynamic data. Static data, collected directly from code, can be analysed quickly, but is highly vulnerable to obfuscation techniques. Behavioural data, collected from machine and network monitoring, is much more difficult to obfuscate, but typically requires execution of each sample for at least 5 minutes. In contrast, our approach requires only 4 seconds of execution to accurately classify 94% of samples. Our model extracts the underlying characteristics of malware behaviour, enabling it to also detect unseen malicious software used in zero-day attacks. We will present an introduction to the underlying research and a demo of our live GUI that allows analysts to observe the model predictions in near real-time.
- AI In the Insurance Industry
Sam Jones, Zurich
Sam recently spent a month working at IBM to create and co-author a white paper about AI in the insurance industry. This was an exploration into machine learning, deep learning and use cases that could transform the way an Insurance company services its internal and external clients. Sam will share an overview of the white paper highlights and outline some exciting capabilities and adoption strategies that resonate to and beyond the Insurance industry.
- What will Sherlock do now? James Cruickshank, IBM Power Systems.
I'm delighted to have my esteemed colleague, James Cruickshank along all the way from that there London. James will entertain you with a presentation and overview of his work in creating an object detection model using AI Vision. Should be fun!
Generally, our group is quite small, so should be nice and interactive. I really like this agenda - there's something for everyone. This is quite by accident of course!
Food and drink will be provided by our sponsors (Neil and Greg from Meridian)
Look forward to seeing you all!
Mark, Greg, Neil and the PowerAI team.
