HIKE and NVC!! - due to rain/muddy trails...venue has changed

PRACTICE & SOCIAL EVENT

PREREQUISITE: Some basic understanding of NVC

Let's get out and practice some NVC! :) Saturday is scheduled the be sunny! If it is raining that day....consider this hike canceled.

Bring some real-life challenges to practice NVC while walking around the Lafayette Reservoir. (Since it is supposed to rain Thurs & Fri, I switched the venue to Lafayette Reservoir since it has a paved path around the reservoir. If you've never been there before, it is very beautiful and I'm sure you will enjoy it. It's 2.7 miles of gradual inclines and dips with beautiful views of the reservoir and terrain.)

We will meet in the parking lot on the walkway in front of the reservoir at 10:00 a.m., pair up into two's, then walk the trail while practicing NVC on each other. Bring some real-life examples to work on. Tell your hiking partner who they are and what the situation is (VERY BRIEFLY), and then role play with them using NVC. This is NOT a time to go into long stories, drama, or blame-game gossip. It's time to practice NVC so that when we're faced with those challenges, we are more equipped to turn a potentially confronting situation into one with a peaceful resolution. (If your partner starts getting long winded on the "story", gently remind them by saying "Let's start the NVC game".)

Come play and have fun!! It takes appox 1 hour to walk 2.7 miles around the reservoir.

PAID PARKING: It you drive up to the reservoir, there is metered parking so bring at least 9 quarters for at least 1.5 hours of time. Or you can pay $7 at the booth for a day pass.

FREE PARKING: I personally park down on the street instead of driving into the reservoir. You can NOT park on Mt Diablo right in front of the reservoir, but if you drive east one block to the first traffic light, you can turn either left or right and park on the side street (no meters). Then walk up to the reservoir and find us in the parking lot...on the walkway right in front of the reservoir.
