Platonic friendships are the most pure type of a relationship we actively seek to create. Unlike other types of relationships, such as romantic, work, or family relationships, friends who are just friends don't have the stipulations and obligations that bind most other types of relationships. These can include legal contracts, physical needs, rules, societal norms, and family expectations. Friends are free to care for and support each other because they want to and can stop doing so at anytime with limited repercussions.

Marisa G Franco's Platonic, explains how people with a strong social network live longer, are healthier and happier. Platonic friendships are crucial in helping us develop our sense of self, which some argue is vital to our mental health. Why then as a society platonic friendships are at decade lows? We don't seem to value this pure form of love, but the evidence of its importance is overwhelming. The reasons are complex, but you can increase your ability to make and keep friends by understanding how you attach to people. The key is being secure with yourself and your ability to form and support platonic relationships.

This is going to be a good discussion. Strict RSVP policy since it's in person. Everyone pays for their own food. Hope to see you there!
