Itinerary
Day 1. INTO THE MOUNTAINS!
Offering some of the most spectacular scenery in the country, the Cursed Mountains stretch over the borders of Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro, and in Albania they reach a respectable height of 2,694 meters.
Day 2. THE CURSED MOUNTAINS
We continue our vacation in the mountain valley. The area is rich in sights that we will visit, such as a waterfall 30 m high, picturesque cold water springs, caves and Mount Arapi.
In the evening we will start our trip from the mountains and in less than 2 hours we will arrive in Shkodra, where we will stay in a hotel for 1 night.
Shkodra, known in Albania as the "City of bicycles and rain", is one of the oldest cities in Europe and perhaps the most attractive urban center of Albania.
Day 3. SCHOODRA AND BERAT
The City of Bicycles and Rain
The main attraction of Shkodra is Rosafa Castle, rising majestically on a rocky hill to the west of the city, the protrusions and jagged walls create a vivid picture against the background of the setting sun.
The City of a Thousand Windows
Berat has its own special magic, its most striking feature being the collection of white Ottoman houses climbing the hill to its castle, which earned it the title "City of a Thousand Windows" and helped it join Girocastra on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2008.
In Berat, the inhabitants still live within the walls of the ancient castle, which we will also visit. Inside the castle of Berat there are many historical sites that we will see: the "Red Mosque", which can be identified by a secluded minaret, more than 20 Christian churches and a central museum with many icons from the 16th century and a decorative altar inside.
Day 4. ALBANIAN RIVIERA
Ancient ruins
The ruins of the ancient Illyrian city of Apollonia are located on a windswept hilltop about 12 km west of the city of Fieri. Although most of the ruins remain buried underground, what has been excavated within 4 km of city walls is a "poetry of stone".
Albanian Riviera.
Along the way we will pass quiet beach towns, forested mountain passes, marshes filled with birds and seaweed, bustling resort towns and ideal places for snorkeling.
Day 5. BEACH FEATURE
Tired of traveling? We have a full 2 full days for a beach vacation at the resort of Xamil, which is part of Butrint National Park.
Xamil is one of the most visited coastal resorts by Albanian and foreign tourists alike. Xamil Beach and Albania's Ionian Coast to the north were listed by The Guardian as one of the top 20 best value beach vacations for 2013
Day 6. ANTIQUE CITY AND BEACH VACATION
The first Albanian site included in the UNESCO World Heritage List was Butrint in the south of the country in 1992. It has been inhabited since prehistoric times and was part of the Greek and Roman colonies.
Day 7. BLUE EYE AND GYROCASTRA
Blue Eye
Blue Eye is a popular tourist attraction, the clear blue water of the river bubbles up from a stunning pool over fifty meters deep.
Gjirokastra
Next on our path is Gjirokastra. It is a magical town on a hillside, a settlement that has existed for 2500 years, although nowadays visitors are attracted by the 600 "monumental" houses of the Ottoman era.
