‘Shadow Dancing: A 5Rhythms workshop’
Saturday 30th August, 11am - 5.30pm
At the St Hugh’s Centre, Coach Rd, Bradford, BD17 5HS
I really value how the 5Rhythms practice holds space for the whole of my experience, not just the parts that feel OK or acceptable. I find that by encountering and dancing with my ‘shadows’ I have more movement available and I shed more light as a result. In this workshop we are working with the 5 shadows that we encounter in a 5Rhythms class: inertia (or resistance), tension (wanting to get it right!), confusion (or overwhelm - what do I do?do I do this or this or this? or…?), spaced-outness (disengaged, lost in the clouds, vague) and numbness (nothing coming in, nothing coming out, shutdown).
‘Shadow Dancing: A 5Rhythms workshop’
Saturday 30th August, 11am - 5.30pm
At the St Hugh’s Centre, Coach Rd, Bradford, BD17 5HS
You are invited to join me for a deeper dive into the 5Rhythms through the ‘shadow map’ of the 5rhythms practice. In 5Rhythms, each rhythm has a shadow, a place that we encounter in our daily lives as well as on the dance floor, a place that we are familiar with but don’t always name, and it’s a place that we often try to get away from. When we work with the shadow map in 5Rhythms the invitation is to explore the gift that is hiding in each of these shadows. The shadows we’ll encounter in this workshop are inertia, tension, confusion, spaced-outness and numbness. By encountering and honouring these shadows we have the opportunity to integrate them and let them find their place in the landscape of our dance.
Price for the day is £40/£30
Please bring food for a shared lunch. I will bring teas, milk and some sweet treats. We have access to a well-stocked kitchen but not to the cooker or oven.
