CAPITAL CONNECTION WAVES, a 5Rhythms dance meditation happening

Details

The Gallery at MCCC is transformed via light installation and soundscape into a container nurturing connection and fluidity in the body. This is a space of direct experience, creative revelation and physical integration.

"Dancing the 5Rhythms is about waking up to your most essential nature, stretching your intuition and imagination as surely as your body. It’s a formless form, one that expands your range of physical and emotional expression and introduces you to forgotten parts of yourself." - Gabrielle Roth

Facilitated by Megan Kelley, Trenton-based visual/ performance artist, expressive arts psychotherapist and accredited 5Rhythms teacher in collaboration with Bill Nobes of House of Robot in setting the space.

With big thanks to curator Jonathan Conner for including this programming as part of the Capital Connections exhibition!

"Capital Connection showcases the work of artists living and working in Trenton today, many with a direct connection to the college, and seeks to inspire current Mercer students to pursue a life creating art in and around the capital city."

About 5Rhythms
Created by Gabrielle Roth and practiced by tens of thousands worldwide, 5Rhythms is a philosophy, perspective, performance art and dynamic movement practice rooted in the principle that if you put the psyche in motion it will heal itself. Movement is both the medicine and the metaphor, reaching across all languages, cultures and age groups to transform suffering into art, art into awareness, and awareness into action.

Wherever the 5Rhythms are practiced, a community is born to dance, to sweat, to change, to support, and to provide a safe space for each of us to shatter the ego’s hold and awaken the juicy, unpredictable, fascinating, edge-walking part of ourselves that yearns to be free.

Creativity. Connection. Community.
