What we’re about
The 5Rhythms™ Sweat Your Prayers is a simple movement practice designed to release the dancer that lives in every physical body, regardless of shape, size, age, or experience. While the practice itself is simple, it has the power to catalyze deep healing and creative expression.
The primary teaching of this work is: If you put your psyche in motion, it will heal itself.
The five rhythms are Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness. They come together to create a wave. There are no steps to follow. Each rhythm has a different energy and tempo in which we tap into the wisdom of our bodies, bring awareness to the patterns in ourselves and our lives, and find our own individual expression.
Sylvie facilitates regular 5Rhythms classes around the Bay Area from Point Richmond to Sacramento to Redwood City and an occasional class at the MLK gym or Mill Valley. Check Syzygy Dance Project's event page for more details:

Beginners are always welcome. No dance experience needed--just the willingness to move where the music takes you.

ABOUT THIS CLASS
On the morning of Saturday, July 12th, we'll gather to honor the spiritual essence of July—a month that carries the joy of spirit in the northern hemisphere while offering space for meditation and reflection in the southern hemisphere. This dual energy invites us to dance with celebration and contemplation, moving between the brightness of summer's peak and the quiet wisdom that comes from turning inward.
Through movement, we bridge these seemingly opposite energies, discovering how celebration and contemplation can dance together in perfect harmony. In this sacred space, we honor the external radiance of the season and the internal landscape of our souls, allowing July's spiritual invitation to guide us toward wholeness, presence, and authentic expression.
5Rhythms Sweat Your Prayers™
Sweat Your Prayers™ is not just a dance practice; it's a sacred journey into the depths of our being, guided by the wisdom of movement and the power of intention. Created by 5Rhythms founder Gabrielle Roth, this movement practice invites us to explore the divine within ourselves and the world around us. In Sweat Your Prayers™, we merge our bodies with the music, surrendering to the rhythm of our breath and the beat of our hearts.
Through this embodied prayer, we awaken our cardiovascular system while simultaneously opening our spiritual hearts. Each movement becomes a celebration of life, each breath a reminder of our precious vitality. This practice is open to everyone, regardless of age, gender, or experience level. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or stepping onto the dance floor for the first time, you'll find a welcoming and inclusive space to explore and express yourself authentically.
There are no steps to follow, no right or wrong way to move; simply let your body lead the way and trust in the wisdom of your own heart's rhythm. Guided by Sylvie Minot's gentle presence, we'll dance in silence, allowing the music to speak to our souls and guide us on our liberating journey of self-discovery.
