Fitness Mingles is a platform to coordinate indoor and outdoor fitness events for a known group of Meetup friends and participants who are either retired or approaching their let's get out and play years.
This group is for reasonably physically fit adults who enjoy urban bicycling, walking and outdoor events. We also enjoy cultural events such as concerts, films and lectures.
The age range is not set in stone but intended for those who came of age in the 60's...
Distance: The urban walks are usually two (2) to five (5) miles.
Pace: We walk at a minimum pace of two (2) to three (3) miles per hour
Trail: Urban sidewalks, uneven surfaces using multi-us crowded paths.
Duration: A typical walk is ninety (90) minutes.
All Meetup participants and their guests are solely responsible for their decision making, safety and security.
RSVP's matter; those with three or more no shows and/or late cancels are subject to removal.
It has been my experience leading countless Meetup urban walks in the Portland metro area over the past five years, most people follow the ability and safety guidelines; however, some do not. For that reason, we no longer provide a sweep for the walks--participants who are unable to maintain the 2.5 mile per hour pace take responsibility for completing the route on their own and/or returning to the starting point. Our preference is that all participants are able and willing to keep the minimum pace.
