Charlie Gunningham arrived in Perth 20 years ago, a business teacher from the UK via 8 years in Singapore. He graduated from an MBA at UWA 2 years later as top student, and decided to change career setting up aussiehome.com, one of the first online real estate businesses in Perth (3 years before realestate.com.au came to WA). His 10 year journey with this startup taught him a lot about the ups and downs of startupland. He sold the business to REIWA and ran reiwa.com for 3 years before joining Business News then becoming CEO. Last year he was appointed as one of two Commercialisation Advisers for the Department of Industry, assisting innovative companies develop their projects, which includes access to up to $1M in matching funds. Charlie mentors and advises various startups, sits on many advisory boards and has recently joined the team at Startup News to bring regular news and events to the local startup community.
