SkiFest 2014! Telluride

After Tahoe, Park City and Jackson Hole our powder journey continues as we travel to Telluride, Colorado! Our 4th annual SkiFest will be held in the rugged San Juan Mountains. Telluride has everything going for it - lots of snow, amazing skiing, a historic village, nightlife, all in a spectacular setting. Telluride is not located near any major city so there are no weekend crowds and the resort maintains its own special charm.

Telluride also has a unique free high-speed night gondola (shown above) that connects the historic town with the new village. This makes it easy to stay on one side of the mountain and go out in the evening in the other.

The trip runs Feb 20-Feb24th. For those of you who would like to take advantage of the long weekend prior, there is a great option to visit Santa Fe, ski Taos, visit ancient Indian Pueblo's, jeep through the rock formations of Monument Valley and finish in Telluride.

Arrival Airports
Telluride - (15m) Expensive and very limited flight selection
Montrose (1hr), Gunnison (2.5hr) – Can be Expensive – Good Flight Selection
Grand Junction, Durango (2.5hrs, Normal Fares, Good Flight Selection.
Flagstaff, AZ & Albuquerque, NM (5-6hours, Very Good Fares, Very good flight selection)
Denver (6-7 hours, Best Fares, Most Flights)

If possible please use miles to fly to Montrose or try to get a good fare.

Our airport of choice is Durango as most convenient with good fares.

Flagstaff & Albuquerque are excellent choices for a slightly longer vacation. These southern cities are gateways to the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Taos, Santa Fe, Moab and several other National Parks. They also provide relatively easy and usually snow-free access from the high desert into the San Juan Mountains.

Denver is not recommended as the transfer involves multiple mountain ranges and passes and is the longest distance of the airports listed above. However Denver will have the lowest airfares.

Transfers
Montrose has regularly scheduled shuttle service. From Durango we will offer a private bus transfer if we have more than 8 travelers. Otherwise there is the option to rent a car for the transfer from any of the airports.
