Renewable Energy Applied to Air Conditioning

Abstract: The air conditioner has made many of the southern states desirable places to live
and work. The economies of these southern states have become the envy of much of the rest of the nation as the mild winters, low energy costs and low taxes have drawn millions of people and many of the nation’s largest businesses. And of course, the energy industry itself has thrived here and is continuing to do so.

At the same time, Americans have become even more aware than ever of our growing
dependence on hostile foreign regimes for much of our energy, along with a growing concern for environmental issues. This changing political climate has created the perfect opportunity to
engineer “renewable” energy sources into our economy. And this is creating economic
opportunities for those who are willing to actually exploit the “Laws of Physics” and make these“Green” systems actually work.

We will explore some of the misconceptions surrounding “Renewable” energy sources and how
they may be properly applied. This will include some real world examples of working systems,
and some of the applications where it is likely to never work. Among the “renewable” sources
we will explore are Solar, Bio-Gas and recovered waste heat.
